About
HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
Divine Commando College, Ota, began its journey on January 28, 2001, as a tutorial center named Commando Tutorial Centre. We soon expanded to offer Computer College and Secretarial Studies under the name Commando Multipurpose School (C.M.S) at Orile Iloye Community, Sango.
On September 12, 2001, the institution transformed into a full-fledged secondary school, operating from a rented storey building on Olumo Street, Dalemo, Sango, Ota. At the outset, 28 students—both male and female—were examined and admitted into J.S.S. 1 and J.S.S. 2, respectively.
The school was founded by a professionally trained teacher, educationist, physical educator, librarian, and military personnel, supported by his equally accomplished wife, who is also an educationist and professionally trained teacher. Together, they coordinated the affairs of the school, instilling discipline, knowledge, and skills while encouraging parents and increasing the student and teacher population.
Divine Commando College’s establishment was rooted in a respect for discipline and a belief in the school’s capacity to contribute to the educational upliftment of the people of Sango and its environs.
In 2005, the school gained approval for the Junior Secondary School Council Examination. A year later, in 2006, the school received approval for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) by the Ministry of Education, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Tragically, in 2007, the school lost its esteemed proprietor. His memory remains with us, and we pray for his soul to rest in perfect peace (AMEN). Since then, the proprietress has faced numerous challenges to restore the school’s stability. Despite the difficulties, God’s continuous manifestation in the school administration, coupled with the support of dedicated teachers, has kept the school thriving.
Three years later, in the face of new challenges, the school relocated from Adalemo Sango Ota to Baba-Ode, Onibukun. Among these challenges were a sudden quit notice with less than two weeks’ notification and a directive from the Ministry of Education to move to the permanent site as a government-approved school. The move was necessitated before the scheduled time for the 2011 WAEC, NECO, and J.S.S.C.E examinations. The school resumed full academic sessions at Baba Ode in the 2012/2013 session.
Today, we express our gratitude to God and appreciate the parents and well-wishers who have supported us in every aspect. May God reward you abundantly and make your children a source of joy to you all.
